Water and Sanitation

You can help end the water crisis and restore hope!

Clean drinking water and basic sanitation are critical to life.

Every day in the rural community of Kivaani, Kangundo, thousands of people suffer from a lack of access to clean, safe water. Mothers and children walk miles for water or use their meager resources to purchase clean drinking water. For school aged children, it’s a burden that traps them in poverty. If there aren’t proper toilets and waste procedures there’s a good chance public water sources will be contaminated, spreading disease and health issues.

The 19 rain catchment systems we implemented were meaningful and helped our family units,  but they have proven to be inconsistent as they are dependent on adequate rainfall.

To address this crisis, drilling a borehole well is the most effective long-term and sustainable solution. This process will transition the Kivaani community from unsafe and unreliable water sources to a permanent water well or borehole with a solar power pump.

The cost to implement the Kangundo Water Well is $20,000 and we have raised $5,000.

Timeline for implementation: Approximately four months after starting the project.

  • Preparation/ site assessment $2500
  • Mobilization & equipment $4500
  • Drilling & casings $7500
  • Supplies & installations $3000
  • County permits & government permits & reports $2500
