Kizimani Health Center
Kangundo, Kenya
In April 2015, Kizimani completed construction of a community health center in Kangundo, Kenya. The clinic was dedicated in August 2015, is staffed by Kenyans and has since been serving members of this community, addressing basic healthcare needs. In addition, it has generated support level employment leading to financial stability for several families.
Kizimani is seeking to raise $80,000 to construct and equip a mortuary. Why a mortuary? Because the community leaders drew our attention to their need, and our feasibility study determined that a mortuary would also provide viable long term financial support for the clinic. The nearest mortuary for the greater Kangundo area is an hour away and the facility often does not function as intended, leading many of the bereaved families to choose instead to take their loved one another 2 hours away as they make funeral arrangements.
Would you journey with us as we seek funding for this important project?
$80,000 will pay all construction and equipment costs for a mortuary. Once it’s functional, it will generate enough income to cover all operational costs, as well as operational costs for the clinic, making them both self-sustaining. There will be additional benefit to the community as they create supporting businesses such as floral arranging, event furniture rental, etc .
Contributors of $500 or more will have their name inscribed on a dedication bench.
In the short-term, until the mortuary gets built, we need funding to support operational costs for the clinic and subsidize medication costs for the very poor. Your donation of any amount ensures no patient is turned away for lack of funds.
